Six years after Omatek Ventures went into comatose, due to the financial challenges faced by the company the company is now off the hook of receivership and has hit the market running.
Speaking during the 14th yearly general meeting of Omatek PLC in Lagos, the Acting Chairman for Omatek ventures PLC, Temidayo Seriki, disclosed that the company has come out of the financial storm and it is set to start trading in the market.
“We are here today for the 14th AGM for Omatek ventures PLC. The most important thing to note is that it has been a very trying time over the last six years, especially after the death of the founder of Omatek. We have made a lot of progress, especially this year, we have been able to clear a lot of obstacles that had been standing in our way. And we are hopeful that for now we will start seeing a lot of growth, clear direction and a clear growth projection for Omatek. A lot of our plans had been discussed during the AGM. We are looking at investment. Looking at charting a new course, storming the market and we are doing our best.”
He recalled that everybody knows that Omatek has been struggling with a few financial obstacles with regards to loans. He disclosed that this year, it has been able to settle a lot of those debts that had been standing on its way of progress.
“Honestly God has just been faithful. The team had worked very hard, the board and the audit committee especially the Omatek staff worked extremely hard. The work that was done before the death of the Managing Director has really brought a lot of good will and a lot of favour on our way,” Seriki stated.
The Group Managing Director of Omatek ventures Plc, Yemi Ogundipe, said that the AGM was the first physical meeting that the company will be having after COVID-19. “This is our first physical meeting after COVID. We have allowed all our shareholders to participate and this meeting is very important to us because for about six and half years that I have been in the saddle, I am able to now explain to the shareholders that where we are as a company and to give them the good news that the company is now out of receivership. This is now a very good opportunity to move forward at a very great space in Nigeria ICT sector).”
He recalled that before now, Omatek had a strong presence in the public and the private sectors. “Our computers are very strong and reliable and we have backup service. Many of our computers in the country, when people buy a laptop they will tell you that there are no spare parts for them. I have people calling me for spare parts for computers and laptops that we have sold over ten years ago. So, we are reliable”.
